Michigan resident Hannah Spooner and her boyfriend, Pete Kadry, was looking for a place to eat one afternoon when they decided to settle in Little Caesars. Seeing that the joint was having a raffle where you could win a years' worth of pizza, the couple spontaneously joined at random.
So it was to her surprise when she got a call from the pizza chain saying that she just won the drawing worth 500 dollars. But rather than keeping all the cheesy goodness to herself, she opted to donate every piece to a local charity.
Spooner jokingly said that she just lost a lot of weight and is trying to lay off pizza for a while. The 19-year-old also said that she's aware of the negativity surrounding Detroit and wanted to make a difference to her community in her own little way.
Her next move was choosing a charity to donate her winnings. After reaching out to several non-profits near her, Spooner settled on Covenant House Michigan, a facility helping out homeless young adults.
While the organization does provide three meals a day to its residents, Spooner's generosity is more than welcome and appreciated, said a grateful Covenant House administrator.
"I could tell it would actually make a difference," Spooner said. "I would actually see people who benefitted from it. They were really sweet, warm and welcoming."
Apparently, Spooner's decision was set in stone even before she got the call. "You wouldn't even keep a couple?" Pete asked her and the generous woman would hear none of it.
"If I won it they would all be donated. I knew it right away," Spooner told Fox News. "I just know there are other people out there who have nothing. And I don't think I should be eating a year's worth of free pizza when there are people who go hungry at night."
