PlayStation 4 Vs PlayStation 4 Pro: Is It Worth The Upgrade?

The PlayStation 4 Pro was announced on September 7, 2016, and will be released on the 10th of November 2016, pricing for USD$399/£349/AUD$560. This version of the PS4 enhances in-game visuals and video playback by greatly boosting the machine's GPU yield.

It's definitely the best when you talk about overall satisfaction rating with regards to graphics and overall performance. Of course, the question right now is, "is it worth the upgrade?"

Well, it certainly is! Here are some of its features that you really would want to know.

The PlayStation 4 Pro was revealed to have a lot of new modifications and improvements that would certainly surpass the PlayStation 4 in terms of graphical display and includes the following specs:

  • 4K and HDR Resolution Output
  • More than double GPU from the PS4
  • Boosted Clock Rate of the CPU
  • 1 TB Hard Drive

Additionally, PlayStation architect Mark Cerny stated that that PS4 Pro will "provide a number of mechanisms for easily transferring your game library and entitlements from the standard model to the new console."

Despite its support of 4K output for games and apps, Engadget confirmed that there will not be any Ultra HD Blu-ray support for the PS4 Pro, and the only 4K will come from streaming, games, and apps.

Sony declared that both upcoming and some already released games would get "Forward Compatibility" to upscale the games to work with the PS4 Pro's 4K and HDR support. In addition to that, Andrew House announced that the PS4 Pro's Netflix and YouTube apps would likewise be compatible with 4K and HDR output.

The PSVR bundle includes a processing box, which allows the headset to remove a portion of the computational strain from the console and potentially avoid errors, crashes or framerate drops. The extra processing power that might be added in the PS4K could completely eliminate the need for that box, and possibly enable the system to work wirelessly.
