Sony said the new PlayStation 4 will benefit from the 4K apps that Netflix and YouTube are readying specifically for the console. The new PlayStation Pro, much like the Xbox One boasts of support for HDR besides being able to play back 4K videos as well.

Netflix has already adopted 4K and HDR technologies for some time now. However, it has not been able to stream 4K content on many consoles due to lack of adequate support. With PS 4 Pro, it will have another medium to stream in 4K, a format that it has been really pushing hard for greater adoption. Netflix is already aiming to achieve more than 6000 hours of 4K content on its rolls by the end of the year, stated Polygon.

The YouTube app however won't be available at launch but will still have support for 4K playback.

As for the console itself, the new PS 4 Pro comes across as a more powerful version of the base PS 4. It has been endowed with a faster processor with the graphics processing capabilities boosted twice over thanks to the integration of new AMD Polaris graphics architecture.

More precisely, it is the x86-64 AMD Jaguar octa-core CPU that powers the new PS 4 Pro, along with 4.20 TFLOPS AMD Radeon GPU and 8GB of GDDR5 memory to take care of graphics files.

Fortunately for PS4 fans, price continues to be competitive at $399 for the Pro version of the console as well. According to the IBT, availability starts Nov 10, which makes it just right to capitalize on the holiday buying craze as well.

Meanwhile, Sony also announced the new PS 4 Pro will be compliant with all games currently existing or those coming in the future. However, with the Pro version now being 4K and HDR ready, there will be a marked difference in the way games look and run in the new console.
