A spy photographer recently snapped what seemed to be the upcoming 2019 Toyota Supra - only that it has common characteristics of a BMW Z4 as well. The car was said to be on a test drive on public roads which could be made up of either a six-cylinder engine from BMW or a twin-turbo V-6 of Toyota.
It has been four years since Toyota and BMW had joined forces. Although the former had been known to create automobiles that are efficient for general purchase, the brand decided to fuse their ideas with BMW and create an upcoming sports car - the 2017 Toyota Supra, which may also be known as the BMW Z5.
A said photographer got a snapshot of the alleged unit in white and black shades driving through public roads, reported Motor Trend. It was allegedly going on a test drive when it was seen in public.
The said car featured small rear spoilers and circular taillights. It also had a similar front end and rear to that of the old Toyota Supra while having a slight resemblance to Toyota's FT-1 concept. With respect to the vehicle's BMW characteristics, the said switchgear was said to be similar to that of the BMW Z4, only smaller.
According to Car and Driver, the joint venture between BMW and Toyota was aimed to create the 2019 Toyota Supra, an iconic car which was last manufactured way back 2002 in Japan. In fact, it was revealed that Toyota recently filed a trademark application for the Supra model in Europe earlier this year.
Furthermore, the said production of the unit was said to be up to 60,000 cars in total. Production was said to start by 2018 and may be priced around $40,000, a similar range price as that of old Supra model. Speculations are high that the new Supra would be ready for purchase come 2019, and that Toyota and BMW may release the unit as a coupe.
Was the captured vehicle the upcoming 2019 Toyota Supra or BMW Z5 out for the test drive?
