The official car of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a black BMW 7-Series met an accident in Moscow, killing the preident's favorite chauffeur on the spot.
According to Carscoops, the gruesome crash happened when a black Mercedes CLS driving in the opposite lane reportedly lost control and veered towards the Putin's BMW at high speed, leading to a head-on collision. The driver who is being described as President Putin's 'favorite chauffeur' died immediately at the scene.
Russian sources are not revealing the identity of the driver at the moment but have said he had 40 years of driving experience behind him. The impact left the front left side of the BMW 7-Series in a very bad shape with debris strewn all around.
Putin was not in the car when the accident happened as he was in China attending the G20 summit. The incident happened on the Kutuzovsky Avenue that comprises of eight lanes.
The identity of the other driver behind the wheels of the Merc CLS is not known either, the Daily Mail reported. However, he is believed to have survived the accident but has been rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Whether or not both the drivers involved in the crash were wearing seat belts is not known either. However, it does show not even the most expensive of cars or years of experience can save one against fatal crashes.
In fact, so hard was the impact that the CLS spiralled several hundred feet before coming to a stop. The incident caused a massive traffic jam as authorities took several hours to clear the crash site.
While the above accident is caused by a car that seems to have has gone rouge, such incidents are not entirely uncommon in Russia. Traffic violations happen quite frequently leading to crashes and street fights. Those flashing red lights and enjoying govt. privileges are known to have the right of way and breach red lights according to will, leading to confusion among fellow motorists and often crashes as well.
