With a clear goal in mind: to steal the limelight from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, the latest generation of the BMW 7 Series will possibly introduce a new luxury coupe version by the end of the year and will arrive in dealerships as soon as 2019.

This is not the first time that BMW entertain the idea of a BMW 7 series coupe. Back in 2013, it was said to be at work when BMW unveiled the Pininfarina Gran Lusso V12 concept but it wasn't clear then whether the coupe will be a part of the 7 series of the revived 8 series.

As of now, we don't know much yet about the new BMW 7 Series coupe but one thing is confirmed. The "driving assistant" featured in the BMW 7 series sedan that premieres in 2015 will be increased and security is the main target. The "driving assistant" helps in steering and guidance in the lane with protection from side collisions as well as rear collisions warning. Also by using the system of active cruise control with Stop & Go function by simply pressing a button to automatically consider the car speed limits detected by the Speed Limit Info function.

BMW has to do things very well if they want to draw attention in the market with the new BMW 7 series coupe.  The 2017 BMW 7 series has fallen behind its competition in sales and the anticipated coupe will face not only the  Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe but the Audi A8 autonomous set to arrive on the same yea. 

Also, the BMW 7 Series does not have the same number of versions that the Mercedes S-class have - a coupe, convertible, Maybach and more - not even close. Because of this, sources said that the BMW is not stopping on the coupe. A convertible is likely to follow by 2020 and a competitor for the Maybach is also on the drawing table. 

Not to mention that the BMW has the much-awaited BMW M7, a supercar that would compete with the Mercedes-AMG S63, which is already attracting a lot of buzz nowadays.
