Two children, ages 2 and 5 were found locked inside their family car while their father, Montez D'Angelo Sistrunk was inside the MotorCity Casino, gambling for approximately 1 hour, and was charged with two counts of child abuse, of a second degree, according to the Maria Millot, the prosecutor's office spokesperson.
The Prosecutor's Office at Wayne County also said that the case was taken to court on Tuesday when the father left his two children inside the hot car in the parking lot in order for him to gamble inside the Motor City casino.
A bond amounting to $75,000 was given to Sistrunk, with the first hearing for the case filed against him is scheduled for Sept. 13. The Magistrate Millient, Sherman has already directed Sistrunk to refrain from being with and near his children.
The court hearing, however, would be moved to Wednesday, instead of the initial schedule which was Tuesday. The car was found parked on the 2nd level of the parking garage for the casino goer's vehicles when the sons of Sistrunk were freed at 11:25 a.m. after being trapped for about an hour inside their 2011 Ford Focus.
Woody says the children's father worked well with the law enforcers and did not resist in any way upon being taken into custody.The young boys are under their mother's care while waiting for the investigation results of the Child Protective Services, which is currently in progress.
At the time the boys were locked inside the vehicle, temperatures in Detroit reached as high as 77 degrees, as stated by the National Weather Service. At the moment, the children are in good condition and is in good hands with the care of their mother and protection from law enforcers.
