Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date Summary: Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and US Cellular Update

Samsung Galaxy S3 has been officially released in the U.S. market in some wireless carriers, but not everyone is able to receive the device in time. The overwhelming demand of the Android-based smartphone has forced the carriers to delay their shipping dates.

The smartphone, which will be available on five major U.S. wireless carriers, has been released earlier in Europe and received rave reviews, breaking sales record set by Apple's iPhone. The news of its U.S. launch excited the electronic consumers at first, but the extended delay is frustrating its fans.

A spokesman at Sprint confirmed with Engadget that the16GB model has been shipped on June 21 as planned, but the 32GB model may start shipping next week. The 16GB will be available in store on July 1, but no specific date was mentioned for the 32GB. The 32GB model will be available in web sales, Sprint business sales, and Telesales initially.

T-mobile was another carrier that planned for the June 21 release with Sprint. However, T-Mobile has announced to release the device on only 29 select market, while pushing back to June 29 on the rest of the market. T-Mobile currently has the Galaxy S3 in store, but it is worth to cal the store before making a trip.

AT&T has previously announced the in-store availability to be on June 28, but had to push back the date indefinitely. The shipping, however, has started already, and AT&T said the orders should be fulfilled within 10 business days.

Verizon and U.S. Cellular have not given a specific date yet, but both are experiencing the shortage like the other carriers. Multiple unofficial sources claim that Verizon has pushed back to July 11.

The Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch screen with HD Super AMOLED display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. It sports Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has two cameras, 8-megapixel back and 1.9-megapixel front. The device is capable of near-field-communication (NFC) and 4G LTE.

The South Korean company is launching its biggest attempt to upset Apple and its iPhone. Although a slight delay in shipping could reflect high popularity, is Samsung frustrating Galaxy fans too much?
