This year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance was a success with millions of dollars worth of cars are sold through launches and auctions as a Jaguar D-Type 1955 broke all records when it was sold for around 22 million US dollars. 

Sotheby's and Gooding & Co is the lucky auction house that sold the said Jaguar. The Jaguar D-Type 1955 Series 1 Roadster became the most expensive British car sold at auction after reaching a price of 21.78 million dollars. It overcame the Aston Martin Zagato DB4GT which was sold last year for 12.6 million euros.

The Jaguar D-Type has everything to succeed, it has an amazing bodywork with black interior and black hood color. It includes black leather seats, steering wheel with wooden hoop, game tools or multiradio original chrome rims.

The car has been completely restored this year but has all original engine parts from 1955 4.2 - liter six - cylinder original line along with a manual gearbox four synchronized gears. It also comes with a rich history as the jaguar once belonged to singer Bobby Darin, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and known for songs such as Dream Lover and Beyond the Sea. The car has the official certificate of Jaguar Heritage and a document from 1975 showing Bobby Darin Hollywood, California, as its owner at the time.

The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance always attracts the best classic cars and the most spectacular prototypes in the automotive industry and this year is no exception. Aside from the Jaguar D-type 1955, other breath taking cars were also sold such as the 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Touring S at 17.5 million, the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Alloy S at 16 million, the 1962 2000 Shelby Cobra CSX at 12 million, 1979 Porsche 935 at 5 million and more.
