New 2017 Porsche Panamera Caught Undisguised In Berlin

The New model year 2017 Panamera is not slated for release before end-2016 though someone in Berlin already seems to have the privilege of owning one. Or at least one unit of the upcoming Panamera model has been caught in the upmarket regions of Berlin and it is quite a sight indeed.

Donning a dark grey shade, the new Panamera does look stunning, to say the least. Picked up by an Auto Gespot reader, the particular model happens to be the turbocharged version of the luxury sedan.

No other details are available as to whether the said model belongs to some company insider and so on. Or if it is a pre-production model that was used for testing and optimizing purposes.

Meanwhile, there already are reports of the 2017 Panamera to come equipped with the new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that is rated at 550 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque. All of that transpires to a 0 - 62 mph run time of just 3.5 secs.

That is not all as according to GreenCarReports, the new turbocharged engine boasts of cylinder deactivation tech which cuts off four cylinders under light load conditions to allow for higher fuel efficiency. The engine also uses the higher-pressure direct injection system to ensure optimum combustion of the fuel.

Then there is also the base Panamera 4S powered by a 2.9-liter V-6 which happens to be the same as its V8 cousin but with two cylinders removed. The V6 is good for a meaty 440 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque which can propel the sedan to the three figure speed mark from rest in 4 secs.

Another version featuring a performance hybrid trim too is rumored for a launch sometime later. A full electric version isn't expected until the Porsche Mission E is launched which is slated towards the end of the decade.

Power gets transmitted to all four wheels via a new 8-speed dual-clutch unit.
