For many years, thieves try to steal the "Spirit of Ecstacy" - estimatedly worth 10,000 euros -  which can be seen on the hood of the cars of any Rolls-Royce cars. Mark Powell, Sales Director for Rolls-Royce Tampa Bay previously revealed the newest anti-theft technology of Rolls Royce and why you cant just easily steal this bonnet ornament. 

The Spirit Of Ecstacy, a figure of a woman leaning forwards with her arms outstretched behind and above her is made from noble materials. Depending on what Rolls-Royce model you own, some of these are made of dry grinding glass, 24 carat of gold and even polished by stainless steel. 

Up to the year 2010, Rolls-Royce manufacturer solidly attached the figure to the hood so it will be very difficult to separate it from the car. However, persistent thieves still get the job done. 

Now Rolls-Royce manufacturers have thought that the best way to prevent burglars to take the figure is to make it disappear. This is why the new anti theft system allows the figure to disappear as soon as someone puts its hand on it.

The system absorbs the figure into the hood , hiding it in a compartment that is located on the radiator. A hatch closes over it and becomes a perfect hideout where the elegant Spirit of Ecstacy remains. A button at the car's dashboard needs to be pressed in order for the figure to appear again.
