Subaru Joins Hyundai For Green Dealership

In what could be described as the two worlds coming together, for the first time Hyundai Motors and Subaru have partnered in opening up of state-of-the art LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) automobile dealership in New York City .

The partnership has been credited as the first "green" dealership in New York by two giants of the auto world. The project has been partnered with Architectural Visions, LLC of Mahopac, GTL Construction and OLA Consulting Engineers from New York. The official media briefing reveals that the dealership was planned in an environmentally conscious manner.

"Our primary goal at the beginning of this project was simply to install solar panels, but once we realized the positive impact that we could make on the environment and the community, we dedicated our resources and effort toward developing a LEED which is a registered showroom," Chief Operations Officer for Subaru, Bob Carinci said. "We hope that our new dealership will serve as the model which inspires other businesses throughout our region to explore environmentally-friendly options in the workplace."

Subaru also has plans to open another LEED showroom in Cortlandt by the end of 2012.

As part of the deal between the two companies, a vehicle was donated to the Westchester Children's Museum.

"Museum Without Walls reaches a critical segment of our regions youth. These children are often the ones most impacted by declining school budgets, which have eliminated many out-of-school enrichment programs," said Tracy Kay, Executive Director of Westchester Children's Museum. "We are extremely grateful to Subaru Automotive for generously donating this vehicle which will allow us to reach more deserving children with programming that inspires discovery and a lasting love for learning."
