DC Comic's cinematic universe is expanding with the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Both films gave viewers a peek of what's to come, including a video footage of Aquaman being held prisoner by the US government. Quite possibly, Suicide Squad will do more than introduce the rest of the Justice League members. It could reveal details on Aquaman's main villain.

According to Heroic Hollywood, the king of Atlantis was fighting with a mutated shark prior to his capture. The villain in question is known in the DC universe as "King Shark," a crazed super villain with metahuman genes. No word if Aquaman's standalone film will follow Shark King's true origins. 

The source outlet reported that the authorities captured Aquaman and humanoid shark in the same prison facility that Suicide Squad members were being held. But unlike the film's villains, Aquaman was not chosen by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) as part of the Suicide Squad. Instead, the king of Atlantis will make his way into the JL franchise. How that story will unfold is subject to speculations.

Rumor has it that a jailbreak will take place at the end of the Suicide Squad movie and this could explain how Aquaman was able to escape the facility. His standalone film may be based on Aquaman's journey back to the ocean.

Another unconfirmed report claims that Aquaman movie's main villain will be Ocean Master AKA Orm Curry. Curry is Aquaman's half-brother and rival to the Throne of Atlantis in the DC comics.

Producer Charles Roven told Collider that the main villain could change because the screenplay is in the very early stage of development.

Aquaman's solo film is set to hit theaters on July 27, 2018. It will be directed by James Wan and produced by Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Charles Roven.
