The BMW Z4 is now approaching the end of its production cycle. This would mean that it will soon be experiencing the end of its production as it will undergo a new replacement.
Toyota skipped producing a new successor to the famous Supra when the production of that model was stopped 15 years ago. Toyota and BMW have allied with each other in the production of new sports cars; however, this will not be like the Japanese or German vehicles.
The two auto manufacturers have kept their silence with regards to their team up. But this did not stop the leaks from reaching to the public. One of the leaked information is the replacement of the BMW Z4 and the resurrection of the new Toyota Supra.
The Canadian company Magna Steyr will be responsible for the production of this. Credible sources from the various official leaks state that the all-new roadster will be larger than the old Z4.
This also causes it to have a new name together with the forecasted smaller convertible vehicles that will be produced by BMW in its BMW Z5. The two cars will also use a different type of internal combustion engines in order to differentiate the features as well as the pros and cons that go with it.
This proves that BMW and Toyota are still locked in the competition despite the seeming alliance that they are having in the present.
However, transmissions may possibly be shared, but would surely have varying ratios. A part of this similarity with the two car makers are the rear suspensions and the differential housings.
It is also very possible that the BMW Z5 and the new Toyota Supra will share the similar hybrid system in its engines.
If the predictions would come true, then there is no reason that a disc-shaped electric motor will also be integrated into the transmission housing. This is what most German plug-in hybrid vehicles are using now.
If this becomes reality, then it would surely leave a mark in the highly priced markup of the BMW Z5 and the new Toyota Supra.
