Toyota Camatte Concept For Kids

Toyota will showcase its two diminutive concept cars at the Tokyo Toy Fair on June 17.

The world class automaker has named its new little toys exclusively for kids as "Camatte," which is an adaptation of a Japanese word signifying "caring for others." The cars are aimed officially to delight both parents and children. In an official announcement, Toyota made it clear that the little cars for children will not be built for commercial purposes and they hesitated to disclose any further details of taking the cars for production.

According to auto experts, the Camatte cars design are highly modular and have panels which can be changed with a twist-on as well as thumb screws.Technical specifications suggest that the latest cute cars are very much similar to kei cars just like Nissan's Pao or Figaro.

"The interiors are arranged in a triangular plan, with driver in front and center and a passenger on each flank, to foster family togetherness," Toyota said in an offical statement. "This format was used by the Fiat Trepiuno concept car, which presaged the later 500. The seating layout is intended to emphasize family intimacy and facilitate parent-child communication."

The concept model has been intended to get children to customize their own cars along with their parents and siblings. The blue Camatte Sora would be at home in Pixar Studio's "Cars" film franchise. The optional model, the Camatte Daichi, has been designed with a military flair with an exterior that looks of a Jeep-like utility vehicle.

"The Camatte's seats and pedals are adjustable: even children can drive," Toyota said. "A careful footnote, however, indicates that children should get behind the wheel only in private go-kart areas."
