Chicago Auto Show returns to Saturday opening

There are going to be some exciting changes for future auto shows in Chicago.  Starting in 2013, the Chicago Auto Show will be open to the public starting on a Saturday. That's right, the show has decided to go back to a Saturday opening day.  This change will be for the first time since 1998.

Dates for the annual event, which will remain 10 days to include Presidents Day,  will be Feb. 9 through Feb. 18 in McCormick Place.

According a quote in the Chicago Tribune from the Auto Show Chairman, this was a decision to increase attendance and having a holiday weekend is a sure way to have more people turn out for the event.

"We know that Presidents Day at the Chicago Auto Show is huge from an attendance standpoint and we want to ensure as many people as possible can attend our show," said Mike Ettleson, chairman of the 2013 show, said in a release.

Each year the auto show highlights and displays the latest cars from US and foreign automakers.
