Aston Martin's race track supercar used to be for that exclusive purpose only; however the company has recently announced it is redefining its use. This time, the Aston Martin Vulcan can now be reconfigured for travel on the road.

The owners of these limited-edition 24 Vulcans, valued at $2.6 million each, are already offered the option to have their supercars modified at their own discretion, according to TopSpeed. In an interview, CEO Andy Palmer said that a road-conversion package is being developed by RML Engineering, which would allow Aston Martin Vulcan ready for the road.

The Aston Martin CEO also described the key areas of the Vulcan's conversion, which would be technical modifications, safety aspects, as well as bespoke alterations. These would all matter depending on the customer's specific requests. Other aspects would include crash test simulations and road lights.

Vehicle engine emissions tests would also be carried out during the conversion process to ensure that emissions regulations are followed up to par, depending on the location of the Aston Martin Vulcan. Palmer also reminded the Vulcans' customers to expect up to 3 months for the complete conversion of their vehicles.

Aston Martin has yet to announced the costs involved in the Vulcan's conversions; while RML said that the first completed road conversion of the supercar would be towards the end of this year, as per the news agency.

In a related AutoCar report, Palmer added that the all of the Aston Martin Vulcan conversions could well be carried out. "We have the sales of the last two cars currently under negotiation and it looks like the road conversion could be the closer on those deals," the Aston boss said.

The Aston Martin Vulcan conversion was inspired by customers' expressing to make use of the track-only vehicle to the road. Another engineering firm, Lanzante, is already converting the £1.98m ($2.8m) McLaren P1 GTR for that purpose.
