Auto Companies Endorse 2012 Nigeria Auto Awards

Plans are now at its peak for the staging of the seventh edition of The Nigeria Auto Awards.  The publisher of On Wheels Magazine and convener of The Nigeria Auto Awards, Mr Jabez Aina-Scott made this known recently in Lagos.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing, Aina-Scott said that a number of top players in auto franchise business in the country have endorsed this year's seventh edition of the auto industry awards.

He said the awards ceremony will showcase the best of the best players and practitioners in Nigeria's auto industry. "It's been a harvest of confidence building in the award event as the who-is-who in the industry have declared commitment to the event.

"They include Toyota Nigeria Limited, Stallion Motors, Mandilas, CFAO Motors, Lanre Shittu Motors, Tata, Elizade, Boulus Enterprises, and Kia Motors, as well as Coscharis and Viramsum. "Others in related businesses are Boulos Enterprises, Mobil, Milan Group and Stanbic IBTC and First Bank Plc, which is well known for its automobile financing products," Aina-Scott said.

He said that public voting had started to determine the car that will take home the prestigious "Car of the Year" award. The nominees are Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Avensis, Kia Optima, Land Rover HSE and Audi A6. Also for public voting,  seven vehicles have been nominated for the "Best Designed Car of the year" award. They are Volkswagen Passat CC, Honda Crosstour, Kia Optima, Toyota Avensis, Ford Taurus, Hyundai Sonata and Range Rover Evoque.

The publisher noted that "Altogether, the categories listed for awards, which cut across all segments, are more than 20 and they include cars, trucks, tyres, organisations, services, individuals and other auto related enterprises."

According to him "The Evergreen and Recognition awards for innovation, sustenance, and strategic policy implementation aimed at moving the industry forward are also on the lineup for this year's award.

"Like previous editions, the award will recognise astute managers of men who have distinguished themselves in all aspects of the industry. Their individual and collective roles towards ensuring product sales, diversification and versatility, innovation and after sales services not forgetting brand building shall be considered," Aina-Scott said.

He thereby called on automobile enthusiasts and the general public to participate in voting for the automobile of their choices.
