Subaru announced that its WRX and WRX STI models are headed to dealers this summer. The vehicles' MSRPs will start at $26,695 and $35,195, respectively.
The 2017 models will pack standard features such as automatic headlights, windshield wipers, automatic one-touch up-and-down windows and a 6.2-inch Starlink infotainment system display, Car Buzz reported. A 7-inch navigation system display is also available.
Interestingly, the new vehicles are said to be aiming the market of "normal" people who may have been looking for some more performance. On top of the standard features, the models will also sport an upgraded headliner in the interior, giving it an extra oomph.
As noted by the Dispatch Tribunal, the 2017 Subaru WRX will go with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional Sport Lineartronic automatic transmission with manual mode. Under the hood, the automobile runs on a 2.0-liter direct injection turbo BOXER engine (268hp) and standard Symmetrical All Wheel Drive.
It also features one of the highest-rated front crash prevention systems approved by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, to ensure safe driving. It utilizes the company's in-house stereo camera technology.
Subaru's Reverse Auto Braking technology is likewise integrated to the safety system. It warns the driver when the car is about to hit an obstacle while backing up, the Leftlane News wrote. Hence, brakes are automatically applied when needed.
Meanwhile, the Subaru WRX STI runs on a 2.5-liter turbocharged/intercooled BOXER engine (305hp). It also sports features such as the 7-inch navigation display, Blind Spot Detection, Keyless Access, Push Button Start with PIN Code Access and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, among others.
Exclusive to this model is the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. In addition, it comes with a steering wheel that integrates Bluetooth and sound switches.
