Jaguar Land Rover Recalls 36,000 Faulty Vehicles In China

Jaguar Land Rover will recall 36,415 luxury vehicles in China due to defects. The recall will begin on July 1, 2016 and the cars will be fixed for existing problems.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) stated on its website that the Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Trading (Shanghai) Co. issued the recall, covering Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XF models that were produced from Mar. 29, 2012 to Oct. 6, 2015.

The statement explained that the car manufacturer spray-painted the lids of the idle gears of the vehicle engines, which can result in fractures in the screw bolts and the separation of idle gears and engines. Jaguar Land Rover will reportedly replace the faulty components for free.

The Economic Times also reveals that BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. will recall a number of imported BMW 7 series models due to defective air bags, starting May 25, 2016. There is a sheet metal inside the air bag control unit that can lead to the unit restarting. Air bags in the faulty vehicles may not function during collisions. There will be 3,115 vehicles recalled, which were produced from June 24, 2015 to Dec. 11, 2015 and previously sold in mainland China. The defective parts will also be replaced free of charge.

The Jaguar XJ is described as the company’s pinnacle saloon car. The vehicle features a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 240PS of power and 340Nm torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 7.9 seconds. The 2016 model features a bolder design with a new front grille, attractive full LED headlamps and tail lamps and a sleekly shaped body. The XJ has an 8-speed automatic transmission with Intelligent Stop/Start, a combined fuel economy of 8.5 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 199 g/km.

The Jaguar XF boasts of superior ride comfort and excellent sports handling. The All Wheel Drive and Intelligent Driveline Dynamics option were offered for the first time on both diesel and petrol models. The XF features a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that can reach levels similar to the performance of a 6-cylinder engine.

Both Jaguar models are known for luxury, quality and control. It is still uncertain how long the adjustments on the recalled vehicles will take, but owners should expect these to perform better and offer safer rides upon their return.

More updates and details on the Jaguar Land Rover recall are expected soon.
