Mercedes-Benz and its historical legacy are facing scrutiny. Owing to the rising tension between diesel owners filing lawsuits in the United States, the Mercedes-Benz and its image are speculated to be on the rocks and baffled by tensions.

Baffled by the escalating complaints set forth by diesel owners, Mercedes-Benz' integrity as a reliable carmaker industry hangs on a thread. The crisis began when the Texas law firm Hagens Berman rendered a class-action lawsuit that allege the mighty Mercedes-Benz to have been using a diesel "cheat device" in its BlueTec diesel vehicles.

According to Auto Blog, the claim was that Mercedes diesel emits out different amounts of noxious emissions at different times and it resembles the hurdles that also brought trouble for VW in the past. The same report added on to cite the original court filing statements, and it indicated, "Mercedes never disclosed to consumers that Mercedes diesels with BlueTec engines may be clean diesel when it is warm, but are dirty diesel when it is not."

Reuters relayed that despite the claims that Mercedes-Benz was able to pass the dynamometer test in all tests, it was not able to pass the real world testing and in the same manner, is treading on the direction that VW has undertaken.

Meanwhile, Daimler released a rebutted statement revealing, "We consider this class action lawsuit to be unfounded. Our position remains unchanged: A component that inadmissibly reduces emissions is not used in Mercedes-Benz vehicles."

In addition, the claim was focused on the BlueTEC technology that is being utilized and used for Mercedes-Benz cars. It is a filter system that uses urea to purge exhaust fumes that is threatening the environment with its nitric oxides emissions. All the more, the price of this technology is pricey which is why Mercedes-Benz large limousines or its sports utility vehicles that are powered by potent diesel engines most heavily use it.

As the lawsuit continues to spark controversy for the giant carmaker Mercedes-Benz. Many are speculating that it is just a matter of time before Mercedes-Benz suffers the same fate as VW. Nevertheless, if Mercedes-Benz disregards the rising threat, it may lose more than what it anticipated for.
