Automakers Set To Hike Car Prices In India

Shock after shock seem to be the order of the day for Indian car customers. Just a week after the central government announced a revised tariff of petrol and diesel rates, global automakers announce price hikes to their latest models.

The unexpected announcement of fuel and price hikes of car models are ruling the roost in India. Within the last two weeks, price hikes seems to have devastated the lives of every Indian who owns a vehicle. The price hikes have had an immediate impact with car sales decreasing 3 percent, the lowest in a decade.

The increase in the fuel hike by the central government in India has led to drastic changes in the currency and a mounting import bill that has placed a mounting burden on the shoulders of automakers.

For them with no option left, they increased their prices on all the latest car models. This is the third price hike by automakers in the last year. And for customers, the blames lies on the central government for not taking any precautionary measures before hiking prices of both fuel as well as vehicles. Customers opine that there seems to be a lack of any public policy to safeguard customers' interests.
