GM Recalls 4,304 Chevrolet Malibu Eco

General Motors announced on Thursday that the company takes the responsibility of installing a new module, which plays an important function of deploying airbags, very seriously.

Concerned over the safety of the drivers of Chevrolet Malibu Eco cars, General Motors is set to start the process of fixing the technical hardware snag in all of its 4,304 models. The U.S. auto makers made it clear in the official statement that though there's no possibility of any accidents or road crashes due to the failure of the airbag module, it is taking all the precautionary steps to fix the persisting problem as early as possible.

After hard braking, a module may reset and if that happens during aggressive turning and the vehicle senses a potential rollover, the roof rail air bag may unintentionally deploy, according to information on the recall posted on the NHTSA website. Also, the air bags or seat belt pretensioners may not deploy during a crash, increasing the risk of injury, according to NHTSA.

There have been no reported cases of accidents or injuries due to the failure of airbag module, General Motors has issued notices to all the owners of the Chevrolet Malibu Eco cars by bringing their vehicles back to the garages to fix the problem.

GM said that so far, it had not received any complaints owners of the Chevrolet Malibu Eco and the malfunction was found in a series of routine tests resulting in finding the technical malfunction.
