Chevrolet Cruze Under Fire From NHTSA

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) made an official announcement in April that it will be investigating two complaints filed on the fire incidents in the Chevrolet Cruze.

In a document reported in the online portal of NHTSA, General Motors reported two complaints of fire incidents in the compact car. It has also asked the GM to take its stand in the fire incidents.

The request by NHTSA to General Motors has been made aboutthe electrical components and wiring of electric cables. The administrative authority has asked the GM of any allegations of reported in incidents of faulty cabling resulting in smoke and fire coming from the engines.

Alan Alder, spokesperson for the General Motors, said the world class automakers have been very supportive in the investigation by the NHTSA and will cooperate throughout the process. He said that the investigation on the fire safety in the Chevrolet Cruze will cover 370,000 models available in the entire U.S. And he makes it clear that the General Motors has not recalled on the issue.

In a report filed with the government, there's no reported cases of death or injuries due to the technical fault in the Chevroelt Cruze cars. If NHTSA finds out the core technical problem with the Chevrolet Cruze models then it has the power to order the recall of the 370,000 models driven across the U.S.
