Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has issued a recall for almost 56,000 Jeep Cherokee SUVs in order to fix an electric problem with the power liftgate control modules.

The issue involves a possible water leak that can cause a short circuit for the liftgates, which presents the potential for a fire hazard, according to Autoblog.

Jeep Cherokees covered by the recall include 2015 and 2016 models made from Feb. 18 to Sept. 10 of this year.

FCA said that it issued the recall after receiving two complaints from customers, but it has yet to receive reports of any fires or injuries related to the issue, the Associated Press reported.

Dealers will be tasked with inspecting the modules and replacing damaged parts, and FCA is working on a schedule for the recall and will notify owners.

Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to check their liftgates and keep them dry until their cars are fixed.
