Tesla Motors has embarked on a hiring spree in order to obtain the staff necessary for its ambitious plans.

The electric automaker posted job openings on its career website, with almost 1,650 positions currently available to anyone looking to join the company, according to Business Finance News. Requirements for the job offerings vary, including skills and working experience.

Tesla's press release states that the company had a total of 10,161 employees last year, which was over 70 percent more than the 6,000 it had in 2013.

Those looking to join Tesla won't have to move to its headquarters in California, as the listed positions are open at dealers in Norway, France and Germany, Autoblog reported. These positions include vehicle technicians and sales advisors.

Self-driving technology is a big focus for this hiring spree, as Tesla is looking for more engineers for its Autopilot semi-autonomous feature. Those who apply for these positions will get the chance to meet Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who will interview the prospective employees personally.

Tesla still has a long way to go before it catches up to other automaking giants like General Motors, which currently has 215,000 employees at 10 different auto brands worldwide, Business Finance News noted.

Tesla now has 14,000 employees and plans on using this new hiring spree for its future goals, which include delivering 50,000 vehicles by the end of the fiscal year, releasing the Model 3 in 2017 and the construction of its Gigafactory battery plant in Nevada, according to Autoblog.

Amnon Geshuri, vice president of human resources at Tesla, noted that despite the long list of open positions, getting a job at the company isn't easy, as Tesla has had "1.5 million applications from around the world" in the past 14 months.
