Former Formula One driver Jean Alesi acknowledged on Wednesday that he is too uncomfortable to drive his "slow" car in the practice session for the Indianapolis 500.

Finding his car 15 mph slower than the rest of the car drivers at the practice session, Jean Alesi made a strong comment on the speed of his vehicle and indicated to his team Lotus to look for alternative options for the next race. Simona De Silvestro, another co-driver for the Lotus team, also agreed that the cars from Lotus are indeed much slower than the rest, which might damage the drivers physically as well as the team's reputation.

"After the practice session I'm completely shocked to see that indeed our cars are very slow than the rest of the participants," said Jean Alesi to media after completing his practice session at the Indianapolis 500.

"This could be a deadly mistake of the race day. If a driver's car gets slower and he keeps on looking behind for fellow drivers than this attitude may cause serious damages to the driver and may lead to severe accidents. We have already informed prior to the practice session that the car will be good for the track and will perform better on the final day. But all our experience is that I was kept looking in the rear mirror for other drivers and I was in the middle of the road too. These kind of technical snag will definitely put our lives in danger," Alesi complained.

And Lotus is not the only one who is concerned about the race.

"I wouldn't like to be in his shoes for sure. It would be a horrific experience for any race driver to hold the wheels so slow in the middle of the track. I think this impacts for everyone indeed," said E. J. Viso, driver for K V Racing Technology.
