Fiat Chrysler Recalling 94,000 SUVs To Fix Different Issues

Fiat Chrysler announced Tuesday that it is recalling about 94,000 SUVs worldwide for two different safety issues.

One of these reasons involves the rear axles of over 86,000 2015-2016 Ram pickups, which need to be replaced after a company investigation determined that axle shafts on some trucks weren't properly heat treated, according to Reuters. This could lead to the axles overheating and triggering the anti-lock brake system warning light, which could then lead to a wheel separating.

Most of the Ram pickups covered in the recall are located in North America, while others were in Canada, Mexico and outside the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) region.

Fiat Chrysler said that it knows about one crash related to the issue but did not receive any reports about injuries caused by the faulty axles, NBC News noted.

Other SUVs are being recalled since some air conditioning lines were found to be too close to the exhaust manifold and could catch fire, the Associated Press reported.

The issue was brought up after U.S. regulators received two complaints about smoke and fire in certain 2015 Jeep Cherokees. Fiat Chrysler hasn't received any reports of injuries or crashes related to the air conditioning lines.

The automaker will have dealers inspect and replace both the faulty lines and axle shafts if needed, AP noted. Customers should contact dealers if their cars lose air conditioning or if they see a dashboard warning light.
