The officials at the General Motors confirmed the models that will be launched in September at the Paris International Auto Show.
The latest Chevrolet Trax will join the Malibu, a mid-sized sedan, Colorado, a pick-up truck, Trailblazer, mid-sized Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), and Cruze, station wagon, to the GM brand's line up a fleet of vehicles all around the world. The officials also confirmed that the vehicles will be made available in Mexico from the fourth quarter this year.
It can be recalled that GM used the name Trax for the first time on a SUV concept vehicle at the New York International Auto show in 2007. Though the exhibited model at the show never saw the light of getting into production, the name will be used on the latest model to be exhibited at the Paris International Auto Show.
"The later introduction of the Chevrolet Trax model will going to be the brand model for General Motors," said Mary Barra, Vice President of Product Development in General Motors.
The Chevrolet Trax will make a grand entry into the growing market of small Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in all over the world. Currently we are aiming at the European market and after seeing its success then we'll plan to launch in the Asia and Pacific region. The model has been designed to handle for explorers and carries that authentic look of the urban requirement," Barra added.
According to the sources at the General Motors, it clearly states that the world class automaker has no intentions to market the vehicle in the U.S. market as it already has a strong presence with latest model Chevrolet Equinox.
