Toyota Takes You 'Back To The Future' With Marty McFly And Doc Brown Reunion (VIDEO)

Toyota plans on treating "Back to the Future" fans next week with the release of a short film based on the film and featuring Doc Brown, Marty McFly and the new Mirai (pronounced ME-rye), reported Car Scoops magazine.

The video's release date, Oct. 21, coincides with the on-sale date of the Mirai and the date Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to in "Back to the Future Part II," according to World Car Fans.

Watch the Mirai preview below:

Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox will reunite for the 30th anniversary to talk about the future becoming a reality, The Huffington Post noted.

"Over the years we've had a lot of fun predicting which Back to the Future fictional 2015 technology would arrive by the real year," Fox said in a statement. "Now that we're a week away, I think fans are going to have a good time with what Toyota sees as a true possibility for transportation. It's actually really cool."

In the science fiction film, Lloyd's character converted a DeLorean DMC-12 sports car into a time machine powered by plutonium. Later on, he modifies the time machine to run on banana peels, empty beer cans and other trash for fuel.

While Toyota's new Mirai does not run on recycled products, it is the first hydrogen-fueled car you can buy, Huff Post reported.

The Mirai is eco-friendly, as it has an electric engine powered by hydrogen. It's emissions are harmless water vapors that you could actually drink in liquid form, according to The Washington Post.

Toyota will begin selling its 2016 Mirai for $57,000 on Oct 21. The car will sell for about $45,000 in San Francisco because of state and federal tax credits, Huff Post noted.
