Bentley Debuts 2016 Bentayga, The World's Fastest SUV

Those who have spent the past few years waiting for Bentley's promised Bentayga SUV to arrive have finally received their wish.

The much-anticipated 2016 Bentayga, which is officially the fastest production SUV in the world right now, has finally made its debut, according to Bloomberg. The vehicle comes with a 6.0-litre W-12 engine that provides 600 horsepower and 663 foot pounds of torque.

The unveiling comes four years after Bentley chief Wolfgang Durheimer promised to bring the SUV to its customers and to make it the fastest of its kind.

The 2016 model has 12 percent better mileage than any of the company's past models, and it features an all-new direct- and indirect-fuel injection system aimed at achieving lower emissions and high fuel efficiency by allowing the car to switch between the two methods.

The Bentayga will go from zero to 60 mph in four seconds and has a top speed of 187 mph, The Verge reported. The vehicle also serves as a luxurious counterpart to its cousin, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which isn't too far behind in speed.

Features on the inside include a refrigerator in the trunk and a custom in-dash clock made of diamond and solid gold. The car's system automatically rewinds the clock, made by Breitling, from time to time.

Providing a confortable experience and a feeling of wealth is the main objective of the Bentayga, as drivers are also treated with an 8-inch, clear touch screen and infotainment system that comes with a rear-seat tablet, which has 4G Wi-Fi and a Naim surround sound system, Bloomberg reported. Linley China cutlery, crystal glasses and a storage area for dry foods are also available with the refrigerator in case you feel like having a picnic.

Bentley has yet to reveal the price for the 2016 Benayga, but it will have the base model start in the mid-$200,000 area and will begin delivering the SUVs early next year.

The car will start out with four or five seats, but a seven-seat option is expected to be available afterwards, according to The Verge. The automaker will make diesel and hybrid versions of the SUV available in the next few years.
