Britax announced Thursday that it is recalling 213,753 child car seats in order to solve a safety problem involving their harness adjuster buttons.

The faulty buttons could stick and cause the shoulder straps to loosen, putting the child in greater danger in case there is a crash, according to The New York Times. The childcare product manufacturer estimated that only one percent of the car seats in the recall have the problem.

The recall coves 37 models of its car seats made between Aug. 1, 2014 and July 29, 2015, including Advocate, Boulevard and Marathon ClickTight.

Britax found out about the problem in March thanks to a Consumer Reports notice, saying that it had "confirmed the performance" of ClickTight seats with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and had emailed all registered seat owners, warning them of the potential danger, NBC News reported.

The company said that it has not received any reports of injuries related to the issue. It will notify customers affected by the recall and send them a lubricant to be applied to the red harness adjuster button to fix the faulty seat.

Customers can find out if their car seats are included in the recall by looking at the date-of-manufacture label under the seat cover.
