Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk announced Friday that he has given the Model S sedan an upgrade to make it go faster than it already does.

This improvement comes in the form of "Ludicrous Mode," which allows the all-electric vehicle to travel from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.8 seconds, according to Wired. The new mode is a step up from "Insane Mode," which the electric automaker introduced last fall to allow the car to travel from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

Tesla is also making "Ludicrous Mode" available for drivers of the P90D, a new version of the Model S. The all-wheel-drive performance vehicle gets its name from its battery back, which has been upgraded from 85 to 90 kWh and extends the car's range another 15 miles. The car will be able to travel 300 miles on a single charge.

Musk described the new mode in a conference call as "mind-blowing," as it lets the Model S hit 155 mph in 20 percent less time, USA Today reported. He also compared "Insane Mode" to "having your own private roller coaster."

"No one was asking for ludicrous model because it's too ludicrous," Musk said, adding that the upgrade is part of the company's goal to make the car's powertrain last 1 million miles.

Model S drivers will be able to get "Ludicrous Mode" for $10,000, while current P90D owners will be able to get it for $5,000, USA reported.

Other announcements that Musk made on Friday include a reduced price for the 70,000 kWh version of the Model S to $70,000, as well as a $3,000 price tag for the 90 kWh battery pack. Tesla said the $5,000 reduction for the luxury electric sedan is "the best value of any Model S released to date."
