Captain Nemo’s Car From ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ Is Up For Auction

Almost 12 years after the release of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," Captain Nemo's famous ride will head to auction.

Production designer Carol Spier created the look of this gorgeous car, which boasts six 28 ½ -inch rims and measures at 22 feet long, according to Propstore. The body is modeled after a Land Rover Fire Tender, housing a Rover V8 engine, according to CarBuzz. Hydraulics mounted by the arches of the wheels allow for better clearance while driving, according to Stuff. Its elegant brown interior is trimmed with a silver lining across the top. A beautiful ivory frame is headlined by a mounted silver grille portraying the Hindu god Ganesha.

Only two custom-made models exist. One fully functional, while the other, is an insert model used for close-up shots of the actors during the movie shoot. Although the drivable model is up for grabs, it is illegal for street use due to its massive size. The auction will be held internationally at Coys' Blenheim Palace in the U.K. on July 11.
