These are the Five Coolest Driving Shoes

Heading to a track day but missing the appropriate footwear? Fear not. Of course, you can drive wearing any shoes—or none at all—but here are our top shoe choices for making the run most stylish and successful:

Adidas Gazelle OG - $85

Yeah, a lot of the shoes on this list are expensive. That's because it's “The 5 Coolest Driving Shoes Money Can Buy” not “The 5 Coolest Driving Shoes A Reasonable Amount of Money Can Buy.” As a hat tip to the people wanting a good driving shoe who don't want to spend a fortune, we could suggest a number of classics. Converse All Stars are a popular choice, but these indigo Adidas Gazelle OGs will provide just as much feel and control, all while looking awesome in indigo suede. The price of $85 isn't bad for something that can look great with everything from shorts to a gray suit, either.

Porsche Design Athletic III - $340

The white sneaker is a classic, but there are pitfalls involving puffy white sneaks and Jerry Seinfeld's denim. Avoid those worries by sticking with this sleek pair from Porsche Design (made by Adidas). The lining is made of a breathable mesh, and vents to the outside help keep your feet comfortable. A nicely rounded heel should help you pull off the perfect heel-toe downshift.

OMP Vintage Carrera High Boots - $329

If you like a bit of an old-school look, but don't want to look like you're in a Stirling Moss Mille Miglia costume, check out the OMP Vintage Carrera High Boots. You could pull these off with some nice denim, or throw on a racing suit and compete, since they are FIA homologated. Badass.

Piloti Primo - $350

Sometimes, what you need is a classic driving loafer. The problem with most of them is that they're designed solely to look cool, and are often even quite annoying to drive in. Not so when you get them from Piloti, a company known for making actual racing gear, that announced a line of luxury products for enthusiasts during its rebirth. The result is a pretty cool pair of a wingtip boots and the Gucci-esque Primo, which comes in a nice black suede or an awesome grey suede. Of course, the heel is the classic Piloti Roll Control, so driving in these should feel very similar to the company's FIA-certified offerings.

John Lobb Winner Sport Mk.II for Aston Martin - $1,150

The holy grail of driving shoes. John Lobb is certainly one of the greatest shoemakers of all time and the company's classic sense of style is what makes these shoes so brilliant. Yes, they may be a partnership with Aston Martin, but they are completely unbranded and totally classic. These will still look just as good in 30 years, and if you take care of them, they can last much, much longer than that. We've heard of people inheriting John Lobbs from their grandparents. Now those shoes can come with a matching Aston Martin.
