General Motors announced that Chevrolet sold 1.18 million vehicles worldwide in the first quarter. The total sale of its vehicles stood at an all-time improvement of 6.5 percent.
“The strongest fleet of cars, trucks and crossovers in Chevrolet family have been well received by buyers all over the world," said Akerson, Chairman and CEO of General Motors.
"We believe that delivering the right vehicle for the right owner at the right time has been resulting us in a good profit. In last year, the Chevrolet proved the record breaking sales and it continued for this year also. We hope to continue the same consistency in the coming years too."
In a statement, GM said that more than 180,000 Cruze cars were sold in the first quarter, which is 20 percent increase compared to last year. Chevrolet sold 448,000 cars in U.S., and 55,104 in Europe. The sales in China grew by 1.4 percent, selling total of around 162,000 units. The statistics implies that Chevrolet has more than 60 percent of its sales outside U.S.
“We have added latest cars in the span of just 6 months. And we have reached different regions in the fastest time and launched newest version of our brand. In the span of just 4 months we have launched 5 new models. In terms of the response in auto exhibitions held at various parts of the world, we have been placed as the global leader in car production. And consistently we have kept that title to ourselves and we are hopeful that we would be able to continue introducing new models in the coming year and we will definitely triumph,” said Akerson to media at the Beijing International Auto Show on Sunday.
