Acura announced on Friday that its new 2013 ILX will go on sale at dealerships on May 22 at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting at $25,900.

The production version of the entry-level luxury car was presented at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year.

“The 2013 Acura ILX will serve as the gateway to the Acura brand," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales.

“At the leading edge of a new, sporty compact segment, the ILX delivers style, value, performance and connectivity to younger buyers looking to move into the luxury market”

The Japanese luxury sedan comes in three powertrain options, including hybrid.

The entry-level ILX will be equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 150 horsepower. ILX 2.4L is available, which comes with a 2.4-liter engine with a power output of 201 horsepower. The price of ILX 2.4L with Premium Package is suggested at $29,200. The hybrid version of ILX will have a 1.5-liter engine and with a starting price at $28,900.

A number of new and premium features are available for ILX, including a standard Keyless Access System, Pandora® internet radio interface, and SMS text message, power moonroof, aluminium wheels, and Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®.

The automaker also said that the Acura ILX will be manufactured in its award-winning plant in Greensburg, Ind.
