The Issue:
Takata's air bag troubles continued this weekend as Mazda, Mitsubishi and Subaru have called back more than 715,000 vehicles due to faulty air bags. As we've previously reported, the Japanese supplier's air bags have been exploding too violently upon impact causing shrapnel to shoot out at occupants.
Mazda is calling back its Atenza sedan, Bongo van, and two vehicles made for Nissan and Mitsubishi in Japan completed between March 2004 and March 2007, according to Reuters.
Mitsubishi's recall includes its Lancer and Raider vehicles manufactured between January 2004 and February 2012. Subaru is recalling Imprezas made between 2004 and 2005.
The Fix:
Investigators for Takata and a number of automakers are still trying to figure out the issue. It is believed that the inflators weren't sealed properly and could be damaged in humid temperatures, according to BBC News.
Dealers will replace all defective air bag inflators once recall notices are sent out.
Injuries or Accidents:
No new injuries or accidents have been reported by the three automakers so far. Faulty Takata air bags have been linked to six deaths and more than 100 injuries since 2008.

Official recall dates have not been set by the three companies yet.
Number of Models Affected:
About 715,316 vehicles are affected by the latest set of Takata recalls. Mazda is calling back 112,000 vehicles, Mitsubishi is recalling 512,165, mainly in Japan, and Subaru is calling back 91,151 to repair faulty air bags.
