There are good people and then there's Steve Wells.

Wells recently won an auction for a patrol car that once belonged to fallen police officer Sam Brownlee, who was killed in the line of duty in 2010 in Colorado, according to ABC News.

So who did Wells outbid for the 2010 Dodge Charger? Brownlee's son's Tanner and Chase Brownlee.

We know, that seems bad. Especially considering the fact that the two brothers went to the auction after Tanner started a GoFundMe page to win the car. 

Despite having an expected selling price of $12,500, bids poured in for the car for much more than it was worth, and more importantly, more than Tanner could afford.

"Oh well, we tried," Tanner said after bids continued, according to CBS Denver.

Wells, a farmer who owns oil-rich land in the nearby Weld County, spent $60,000 on the car, with the entire amount set to go to the Concerns of Police Survivors foundation.

After walking up and receiving the keys to his new car, Wells quickly turned around and handed them over to Tanner.

"Tanner, here's your car," Wells said to Tanner, who was just 15 when his dad died.
