Steering Shaft Issue: Ford Recalls 12,300 2015 F-150 Vehicles

The issue:

Ford has launched a recall involving about 12,300 Ford F-150 vehicles made in 2015.

The recall involves a shaft issue that could result in the loss of steering control, according to Ford. There is a chance the upper I-shaft was riveted incorrectly, which could cause it to separate.

The fix:

Dealers are being told to inspect, and if necessary, replace the upper I-shaft assembly, free of charge to customers.

Injuries or accidents:

One report of loss of steering has been linked to the issue so far but no injuries or accidents as of yet, according to Ford.

Recall date:

The recall is set to begin on May 18. Owners should receive their notices in the mail sometime this month.

Number of Models Affected:

Approximately 12,328 vehicles are affected by the recall in North America.

Who to call?

Owners can reach Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
