Formula One drivers started to arrive in the Kingdom of Bahrain for this weekend's Grand Prix, despite the safety concerns that has been raised.

Daily Mail reported that a former Bahraini politician worried that there are "fears we could see some casualties" at the Gulf Air Baharain Grand Prix which is scheduled to start on Sunday, April 22. However, circuit chairman Zayed Al Zayani spoke to Reuters that there will be no risk.

"We wouldn't take a decision on a gamble," said Zayani last week at Chinese Grand Prix.

"I think it's a calculated decision, we've weighed our options and we are committed to the grand prix and to its success. I don't think anything drastic will happen. It's not Afghanistan, it's not Syria. I don't see why anything should happen this year that hasn't happened in the previous years," Zayani assured.

Nevertheless, drivers and the team have started to arrive.

Bruno Senna of Williams and Sergio Perez of Sauber were the first two drivers to land in Bahrain. Bahrain News Agency reported that the rest of the competitors and team members are scheduled to reach Bahrain either on Wednesday or by Thursday.

The report also included arrivals of Sebastian Buemi of Red Bull Racing test driver and Jerome d’Ambrosio of Lotus F1 tester and former Virgin driver. McLaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh has also been reported to have arrived.

All the drivers should have arrived by Friday for the first practice session. The race will start Sunday.
