Greg Biffle Wins NASCAR Spring Cup in Texas

Greg Biffle finally won a NASCAR Sprint Cup Race on Saturday, ending his 49 winless streak and regaining the lead.

The Saturday's victory at Texas Motor Speedway in the 2012 Samsung Mobile 500 was Biffle's 17th victory in the Spring Cup and first since the 2010 race in Kansas. With 30 laps left in the race, Biffle got ahead of Jimmie Johnson and finished the race 3.2 seconds ahead of the second. The average speed of Biffle was 160.577 mph.

"We knew it was a matter of time before we were going to win one of these things. We have been driving so good. Catching the 48 at the end, it was all I had to be able to get to him. It seemed like when we got to him. It was quite easy,” said Biffle after the victory.

Jimmie Johnson lead 156 of the 334 laps, attempting to deliver 200th career victory for owner Rick Hendrick. But Johnson failed to recover after outran by Biffle and even scraped into the wall in Turn 3 trying to catch up.

Biffle said the last 30 laps were easy once he passed Johnson.

“I was surprised I didn’t have to deal with him any further. I thought he was going to be right there near the finish line before me. I just dug deep. I knew I had to do it and kept trying and try9ing and keep on trying. I knew the team would forgive me if I wrecked it trying to beat him so I just gave it all I had," said Biffle.

Biffle is now the season points leader with 19 points ahead of the second place.
