Danica Patrick Hopes to Stay With Stewart-Haas Racing Despite Sponsorship Troubles

Earlier this week GoDaddy announced it would no longer sponsor NASCAR star Danica Patrick after the 2015 season.

While Patrick and her group are already busy searching for a replacement for the internet domain naming service, she might also need to look for a new racing team.

"I really am happy at Stewart-Haas, and they're working hard already to find someone for the new primary position," Patrick said to the Associated Press at Talladega Superspeedway.

Patrick, who is in the last year of her deal with SHR, has said publicly that she would like to remain with the only NASCAR team she's ever known, but realizes she needs to have options if the team decides to go in a different direction.

"My team is working to find someone for the new primary position," Patrick said. "At this point in time, we're moving forward with all those intentions. I guess it is on some levels open-season in a lot of areas. You never say never, of course, but I am happy where I'm at right now."

Patrick has raced with SHR since 2012 when team co-owner Tony Stewart brought her over from IndyCar on a limited 10-race Sprint Cup Series schedule.

Stewart and Patrick have not talked about GoDaddy leaving NASCAR yet, but teammate Kevin Harvick feels Patrick won't have a hard time finding someone new.

"I think when you know on May 1 and you have somebody like Danica Patrick that's obviously very marketable and she's done a good job on the race track, I think that the opportunity to go out and find a sponsor is very high," Harvick said to the Associated Press this week.

GoDaddy has been Patrick's primary sponsor for the past five years when she was still racing in the IndyCar Series. She's also appeared in a number of their commercials, including a record 13 Super Bowl ads.

Patrick is also having a solid racing season this year driving her No. 10 Chevy. She has two top-10 finishes in 2015 and ranks 16th in overall points heading into Talladega this weekend.

How she finishes this season could define the rest of her NASCAR career.
