McLaren 540C Debuts: 2015 Shanghai Auto Show

If you've been itching to buy the McLaren 570S, but don't have $185,000 laying around, you're in luck.

McLaren made the most of its visit to Shanghai this week by unveiling the tag-team partner of the 570S called the 540C Coupe. Oh by the way, it'll be available in 30 different countries, including the U.K., China and the U.S.

The red and black coupe comes with dihedral doors and a company-standard 533-horsepower 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, according to McLaren. That kind of power, plus a 7-speed transmission, helps the 540C reach a top speed of 199 mph and 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Once you open the dihedral doors you'll find leather seats and a "floating" center console which features a seven-inch IRIS touchscreen to regulate everything from satellite radio to the air conditioning controls.

The 540C comes equipped with McLaren's Brake Steer system, which McLaren says is designed to "aid cornering through the application of braking force to the inside rear wheel."

The U.K. automaker is billing the 540C Coupe as "the most attainable McLaren yet," and for good reason. The Sport Series vehicle is expected to sell for around 126,000 pounds in the U.K. and $165,000 in the U.S., according to Automobile Magazine. Yeah it's still a lot, but better than $185,000, right?

McLaren says the 540C Coupe is available for pre-order now with deliveries set to begin in 2016.
