Chrysler debuts 2013 Ram pickup at New York Auto Show

The all-new 2013 Ram 1500 was unveiled at the new York Auto Show on Thursday. The Chrysler this time makes improvement under the skin of the pickup category.

With the new technology, the 2013 Ram 1500 is to have better fuel economy and a lot of other latest features, according to the automaker. The fuel-efficient pickup truck is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine.

The vehicle will go on sale from fall 2012 and will be the first Chrysler to get a start stop technology in North America.

“The new 2013 Ram 1500 is the most capable, good looking pickup in the world and delivers the best-in-class fuel efficiency. Along with the latest technology and new features, we have also upgraded interior and exterior units as well,” said Fred Diaz, president of Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico.

“We have changed every corner of the truck, from air suspension to a new eight-speed transmission to a new interior with the next generation technologies,” adds Diaz.

The Chrysler 2013 Ram 1500 has been fitted with grille shutters which automatically close the airflow when cooling is required improving fuel efficiency especially while the vehicle is on the highway. Next to this technology, the start stop system adds to fuel efficiency by shutting off the engine when idling and immediately restarts it as soon as the brakes are released.

“With best-in-class towing and payload, handling and best of aerodynamics, the 2013 Ram delivers unmatched praise, performance and capability to our customers,” says Diaz.

The model comes with voice recognition technology, access to connected services and applications via 8.4 inch touch screen. And it also has next generation Unconnected system, steering wheel controls as well as full color 7 inch vehicle information system. The Chrysler offers eight-speed transmission in both V6 and V8 equipped 2013 Ram trucks within the end of 2012.
