If you look closely at the grille of the just-announced Cadillac CT6, you'll notice a certain indentation toward the right-side edge.

Integrated within that grille is just one innovation that will premiere on Cadillac's next large sedan: night vision technology from Autoliv.

Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen unveiled the technology at the CT6's Tuesday night reveal, and Autoliv confirmed that the system is similar to the one used in Audi, BMW, and Rolls-Royce models. That means adjustable settings for brightness and contrast, and advanced pedestrian and animal detection with real-time shading. The integration will occur in the instrument cluster, as opposed to some systems' reliance on the infotainment screen.

Night vision first appeared on a General Motors product in 2000, when it was integrated a camera—albeit clunkily—into the Cadillac emblem.
