LED Headlamps Help the Mainstream See the Light: 2015 New York International Auto Show

Remember when the first European-market Audi R8 wore the world's coolest headlamps?

LED headlamps initially gained slow momentum in the marketplace, but their time to shine may be at hand.

At the 2015 New York International Auto Show, several key features appear to creep into mainstream models. Here's our next look at these features-as-trends.

Nearly every Acura vehicle is available with LED headlamps, including the entry-level ILX. The tenth-generation Honda Civic concept displayed at the New York International Auto Show could signify a trickle-down effect. Though this LED-equipped Civic is technically a concept car, Honda says it's nearly ready for production. As volumes go up, part costs tend to decrease, which could further incentivize competitors to include this technology on their own cars.
