Pre-orders of a special 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Launch Edition will kick off online on May 5 at 9 a.m. PDT.

The pre-order of the Soul Red Launch Edition vehicle will be limited to just 1,000 cars, according to a company release. Mazda dealers will complete the paperwork for new owners and deliver cars once they're shipped out this summer.

Here's what we know about the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Launch Edition so far: it will come with 17-inch alloy wheels, a Sport Tan leather interior, automatic climate control, a Bose nine-speaker audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio and heated seats.

Mazda's Connect Infotainment System with navigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam control and a lane departure warning system have also been confirmed for the Launch Edition.

Pricing for the Launch Edition will be announced later on this summer, probably sometime closer to the vehicle's release date.

Mazda announced earlier this week though that the 2016 Mx-5 Miata will be sold for a base price of $25,735, so the launch edition could be sold for around the same amount.

Interested buyers will want to act fast on May 5 since last year's 2015 MX-5 25th Anniversary Special Edition sold out in only 10 minutes online, according to the Mazda release.

Those who order the Launch Edition model can pre-register online by placing a $500 deposit toward the purchase of the Launch Edition until the vehicle becomes available for pre-order.

The site even features a cool countdown to the pre-order period so buyers don't forget. Buyers can also set up an email reminder and to check back when the pre-order begins.
