Chrysler Group LLC announced Tuesday that the U.S. sales in the month of March increased by 34 percent from the same month of the previous year.
According to the report, Chrysler has sold 163,381 units in the single month, making March the best sales month in four years.
“The combination of credit availability, an improving economy, pent-up demand and even high fuel prices encouraging people to acquire newer more fuel-efficient vehicles are all helping to drive industry sales,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Dodge Brand and Head of U.S. Sales.
“Thanks to these factors we experienced sales strength across the board with our March sales up 34 percent and our first quarter sales up a whopping 39 percent.”
All five brands within the Chrysler Group reported gain. FIAT increased by 646 percent, followed by Chrysler brand, 70 percent, Jeep®, 36 percent, Dodge, 18 percent, and Ram, 18 percent. Fiat 500, which was first launched in March of last year, sold 3,712 units, compared to 500 units last year. Chrysler’s flagship model Chrysler 300 and the Chrysler 200 both had over 100 percent increase. Every single model in the Jeep brand also saw an increase between eight to 46 percent.
According to the company’s statement, the company “recorded its 24th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains and its 10th-consecutive month of sales increases of at least 20 percent.” The group has also logged its best first quarter since 2008.
