The younger brother of Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton will become the first disabled driver to race in the British Touring Car Championship, according to the Daily Mail.

Nicolas Hamilton, who has cerebral palsy, will make his debut this summer at the Croft Circuit in Yorkshire on June 27-28 after being granted guest entry by British Touring boss Alan Fow.

"Whilst I'm aiming to improve as a driver, I'm also hoping to inspire others to strive for their own personal goals, whatever their situation in life," said Hamilton, according to the Daily Mail. "Anyone can exceed expectations in one way or another and I hope to prove that when I race alongside, not just able-bodied drivers, but the best Touring Car drivers in the UK."

Hamilton, 22, will take part in in five of the 10 rounds at Croft, Snetterton, Rockingham, Silverstone and the final meeting of the championship at Brands Hatch, according to Eurosport.

Previously, Hamilton raced in the Renault Cilo Cup in 2011 and 2012. He was also on the trackside for his older brother's F1 championships in Brazil in 2008 and in Abu Dhabi in 2014.

He seems excited to get his chance to compete and grow as a driver.

"'BTCC is the top national motorsport series here in the UK and having the opportunity to race at that level is the biggest challenge I've taken on in my career to date," said Hamilton, according to the Daily Mail. "I'm coming into the championship with a lot to learn and my expectations are to develop as a driver as my programme across the season progresses."

Nicolas' brother Lewis is attempting to become the first Briton to defend his F1 title, according to BBC News. He heads into this week's Malaysian Grand Prix with a bit of momentum after winning in Melbourne earlier this week.
